Malaysia Airlines to Launch 487-Seater Airbus A380 Service to Sydney from late-Sep 2012

As per 13MAR12 GDS inventory display, Malaysia Airlines starting 25SEP12 is launching Airbus A380 service on Kuala Lumpur – Sydney MH123/122 service. The A380 aircraft will operate Daily, replacing Boeing 747-400 aircraft. With the latest replacement, MH’s remaining Boeing 747-400 scheduled operation is Kuala Lumpur – London Heathrow MH004/001 service.
Despite the airline’s claim to carry 494 seats on A380, the airline’s seat map for SYD service is displaying 487 seats, same as London Heathrow flight (see report on 05JAN12).

KUALA LUMPUR – AirAsia X, the long-haul low-cost affiliate of AirAsia Bhd. (5099.KU), said Monday it would suspend its services to Christchurch, New Zealand to focus on its core markets.

The four flights a week between Kuala Lumpur and Christchurch will be suspended in late May, with the last flights scheduled for May 30 from Kuala Lumpur and May 31 from Christchurch, AirAsia X said in a statement. The move follows its suspension of European and some Indian routes early this year to concentrate capacity in core markets including Australia,

China

and Japan.

Although the Kuala Lumpur-Christchurch route has recorded "close to 80% loads" in 2011, it has been affected by the spiraling cost of jet fuel, the firm said. "Since the launch of the route, jet fuel prices have increased in excess of 30%, and are currently still at very high levels," said AirAsia X Chief Executive Officer Azran Osman-Rani.

Druk Air – Royal Bhutan Airlines (KB) starting 17MAY12 is launching Paro – Kolkata – Singapore service, on board Airbus A319 aircraft. The A319 aircraft features 20 Business and 94 Economy Class seats.

In the airline’s press release on its Singapore website, the airline says Kolkata is a refuelling stop, and reservation should begin shortly.

2012 is such a sad year for aviation industry..banyak airline yg da mngalami financial crisis,,some of them da ceased operation da pon..Spanair,Malev, n now Air Zimbabwe plak join the group..

sedeyh sebab xpernah dapat chance utk spot UM nye classic 76E kat KUL wlupon skali..such exotic route HRE-KUL-PEK-KUL-HRE weekly service..

benda ni da expected earlier sbb one of their 76E being impounded kt LGW sbb xpayar tax segala..

I was browsing airliners.net forum when I found this thread..OMG!!this really shocking me..another great carrier with such a beautiful livery on its fleet is suspending route from their home base to KUL..what a curse!!
last week ive read that Royal Jordanian will decrease frequency to certain cities regarding high fuel price and competition with other middle east airline, and unfortunately KUL was included among that cities...
it was a sad news..lesser RJ appearance in KUL..n no more golden falcon tail of GF goin to b seen here..and I doubt UM gonna fly its only 767-200ER routing HRE-KUL-PEK anymore after this (since ive read somewhere bout their financial crisis) . Their another 762ER already being impounded at LGW few months back.
Still ingat masa Gulf Air guna 77W lease from Jet Airways for their BAH-KUL route. And I know that BAH-KUL-BAH pnya load factor xde la cket..about 80-90% full per flight..n GF ngah rajin updating their fleet with few A333 to come by next year n 787 for their expansion plan..berita yg dorang nak suspend KUL memang mengejutkan.
GF antara airline yg setia serve KUL for many decades.from L1011 era..to 767-300ER,A340-300, A330-200 n 777-300ER (leased from 9W) ,,we gonna miss ur presence in KUL dear GF!!



hoh..i know..EK,QR,EY akan amek ksempatan nak increase capacity ke KUL..hope KU,IY n WY akan terus bertahan...
